Dreaming Is Not Forbidden

Today, 27 November 2023, I had the pleasure of seeing a painting of mine on display in one of the cafes in the centre of Udine. To me, this is an early gift for the upcoming holidays, which I received in the name of the friendship between the very kind owner and my husband. She said she likes my style and wanted something blue and nice to put in the shop window, so I came up with a flowery arrangement. It has been a long time since I saw something mine on display, the last time was in 2020-2021 and fate stated no one could see any paintings, given the lockdown period of that time.
As I wrote elsewhere in the blog, in the following years I was too busy to untangle the intricate question of my job. It was so intricate that, in the very end, I had to quit due to the unpleasant bureaucratic positions my PA employer took despite my efforts to prove she could grant me what I was asking. But no, no reasonable accommodation could be provided to me, who am afflicted by certified health problems, among which a prominent place is occupied by fibromyalgia, and is 50% disabled. No layer, no trade unionist took care of my situation, the many professionals I paid said there was nothing to be done. This is Italy. This is the situation we fibromyalgia patients face every day at work.
By the way, my PA working situation is yet to be dealt with and permanently closed, despite I resigned at the end of November 2022 with effect from 1st April 2023 on. I am going to start my business as a surface pattern designer in 2024 and I hope I will not infringe unintentionally any of the many laws, rules and regulations hampering free initiative in Italy.
Yet for now, let me concentrate on my my gift and on the nice reason behind it; there is still good will and kindness and openness among people, once the barriers of habit and genericity have been overcome and true human relationships have been established. After all, it is almost Christmas time: who knows that for Christmas we fibromyalgia patients may receive the gift of the long awaited-for law of recognition of fibromyalgia as a disabling illness? I see it very, very, very unlikely but until now dreaming is not forbidden by any law...
