The person behind the hand

Defining oneself is not always easy, especially when one has got many interests and fields of action like I have.
To sum things up, I am

  • an author with many Italian and English books to her credit,
  • an artist who specialised in watercolour as well as pencils and ink,
  • a patient with fibromyalgia, a severely herniated disk and scapholunate dissociation in her dominant hand,
  • for those inclined towards astrology, a Pisces with Virgo rising,
  • but, most of all, a precious, unique and irreplaceable human being. Like anybody else on this planet.

What I can and cannot do

What I can and cannot do

Much of what I can do is due to the type of person I am. Much of what I cannot do is due to health reasons. So, RhosaSpinaDesign is just like me. A bit of this, a bit of that and a sprinkle of love on top.

What I can and cannot do

  • I can work as an artist BUT I cannot use professionally my dominant hand for a long time, so I have to be extra careful and limit myself to what is indispensable.
  • I can work with passion and dedication but I cannot overwork, not even to meet deadlines or particular requests, otherwise, the quality of my work decreases.
  • I can write in English BUT I cannot propose myself as a translator or an interpreter.

What I can and cannot do

  • I can be accurate BUT I cannot be entirely flawless.
  • I can do my best to satisfy customers BUT I cannot be quickened or urged.
  • I can have something similar to a normal life BUT I cannot do many things people normally do.
  • I can sympathise with those who suffer out of illness, violence or injustice BUT I cannot approve of violence in return.

My resume

If you want to know some of my history, here you will find a short curriculum vitae. As you will see, my creativity has always moved in many directions, driven by the desire to be free from stereotypes.

Paolo Toso

affectionate husband, devoted supporter and webmaster.
I cannot begin to tell how important he is. He is the love of my life and a splendid human being – and my webmaster too! I own him so much...

Elisa Lombardi

dearest friend and CFU-Italia representative.
She is the most welcoming person I have ever met. Troubled by a very bad health, she is always ready to help others with generosity and competence.

Julia Cameron

teacher, author, artist, filmmaker and composer.
Can a book change people’s lives? Yes, indeed it can. Her book “The Artist’s Way” taught me to stay faithful to whom I am and to honour the Source from where all creativity flows by simply being who I am.

Natasha Gulliford

florals queen and top quality teacher.
Learning florals from Natasha opened a whole world of possibilities to me when my disability made me feel discouraged. Her ability to guide you towards your personal style from her solid technical foundations is unique.

Bärbel Dressler

expert in historical designs and teacher.
A bountiful of knowledge, kindness and generosity. Her courses are clear, rich in content, perfectly planned and enriched with valuable bonus material. Thank you, Bärbel!

Lola San Román

first and unforgettable pattern design teacher.
She gave me the foundations for my work back when I could not even dream of becoming a pattern designer. She is adorable in any respect.

the most gracious ReBelle instructor.

What can I say about Tracey's kindness, supportiveness and generosity? She is my Affinity Designer angel and that is enough. Whenever I have got a problem, she is ready to help. Her floral and natural assets are my favourite!

I will never forget the emotion when I first saw one of her watercolours: it took my breath away. The best watercolourist in the world. Learning from her in person was beyond my wildest dreams.

master mosaic artist.
He is the most incredible creator of dynamic mosaics which are full of textures, colours and unexpected details. A rare talent and an acute intellect in a barren land that cannot and perhaps does not want to recognize real artistry.
